Clients needing
legal representation outside the Chicago metropolitan area or
referral to lawyers having unique experience or concentration
do not have to hunt haphazardly for appropriate law firms in
remote locations, nor do they have to engage a large, high-priced,
multi-city, do-it-all law firm with numerous offices. As the
sole licensed Chicago business law firm for the Primerus Society of Law Firms, Kubasiak, Fylstra, Thorpe & Rotunno, P.C. (KFT&R)
has access to a great network of select firms in all larger cities
and a number of foreign countries.
Primerus is a growing alliance of approximately 175 small to medium sized
independent law firms in 120 cities from coast-to-coast, border-to-border,
and internationally. All Primerus member law firms have been
pre-screened and are committed to excellence in their respective
areas of concentration. Primerus is built on a set of shared values called the Six Pillars. Primerus includes member law firms in most major cities in the United States and a growing list of member
firms in Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia.
All Primerus international members are conversant in English.
Viewed collectively, Primerus would qualify as one of the largest
law firms in the world, covering all areas of law, but without
the organizational burdens of operating as one firm.
Primerus membership
is limited to not more than three law firms per city or metropolitan
area - a business law firm, a consumer law firm, and an insurance
defense law firm. Several months ago, after a rigorous evaluation
process, KFT&R qualified to be designated the Primerus
business law firm for the Chicago metropolitan area.
The Primerus
Society offers an annual educational symposium for both member
attorneys and clients interested in legal education (such as
general counsels and their staffs). Primerus also provides other
forms of resource support to member firms including numerous
practice groups where member lawyers having common areas of concentration
can focus on a distinct area of law.
Primerus law
firms are independent and autonomous. Thus, the risk of disqualifying
conflicts of interest is much smaller than would be the case
with a comparable large, integrated, multi-office law firm.
If you have a
need for legal representation outside the Chicago metropolitan
area, or if you need a lawyer who is experienced in a specific
area of the law, KFT&R can draw upon our Primerus
team members for their knowledge of the subject matter, familiarity
with local business culture and connections, and experience with
the local judiciary. We can also provide excellent referrals.

This is the foundation
for every client relationship. Mutual trust is the essential
bond that allows both lawyer and client to know that communications
are complete and confidential, that legal advice is accurate
and objective, and that no conflict of interest exists. Primerus
attorneys are pledged to highest ethical standards of their profession.
Primerus sets high standards
for member law firms. Primerus lawyers are innovators, recognized
by their peers as among the best in their respective fields.
Primerus lawyers regularly work on the same kind of transactions
and litigate the same kind of court cases as large law firms,
and regularly go toe-to-toe with large law firm adversaries and
counter-parties.
The Primerus Society of Law Firms is committed to delivering
value. Member law firms not only provide top flight legal services,
but they do so at rates that are locally competitive and considerably
lower than rates charged by large, multi-city law firms. Primerus
law firms do not carry the substantial overhead, marketing budgets
and administrative costs of a firm with hundreds or thousands
of lawyers located in dozens of different offices. Primerus law
firms are also open to consideration of alternate fee arrangements.
Primerus lawyers keep current. This does not mean merely satisfying
the minimum CLE requirements of the applicable local jurisdiction,
but a true commitment to stay on top of developments in each
member attorney's areas of concentration.
Primerus members consider
the practice of law to be a privilege. They honor the legal profession's
noble traditions of respect and responsiveness towards clients,
graciousness toward courts and government officials, and civility
toward adversaries.
Believing that the law is the foundation of civilized society,
Primerus lawyers pledge to serve both the legal profession itself
and their local communities, by volunteering their time and talents
to improve both. This includes a commitment to pro-bono services
for worthy causes and needy individuals.
